Did I mention it was free?
Well, it is and its amazing! You begin by
entering your height, weight, goal weight, sex (male or female, dirty
birds) and then it tells you how much you can eat in a day. Then, you
can log your meals every day to calculate your calories. If you exercise, you get more calories for the day (note to self: exercise more). However, if you lose weight, it takes away calories ('tis happened, and I was sad; I'm not sure when/if I'll get on a scale again to avoid this heartbreak). My most favorite feature (wait for it),
it will scan the barcode of the food you're eating and find it in its
database! This feature, I LOVE! I have yet to scan a food it didn't
recognize. All in all though, its an easy app to
use and it has many features that I will not further bore you with. If you sign up, please let me know because I need more friends on there
to motivate me. :)
So since I started this post about a week ago, I'll give you a status update already; I've been doing well with it. The cold sweats starvation adjustment only lasted about a week or so. I stay pretty close to my daily allowance of calories, sometimes I go over, sometimes I stay under, but I try to aim for my allotted amount (b/c every calorie counts in my belly!). It has definitely opened my eyes to all that I can consume in a day's time. Wow. Those little things you never think about can really add up to several calories, or several hundred. I've been trying to find healthier recipes; quite frankly, what we make for dinner is not that bad, but it helps to save where you can...so that I can snack. :) I will say, my portion size has changed considerably. I bought an inexpensive food scale recently and, geez oh man, can the littlest things weigh A LOT! I also learned protein is key to staying full longer. I recently discovered greek yogurt, which is a protein goldmine! I try to have it for a late afternoon snack when the munchies are kicking in hardcore in the afternoon; its very helpful when there's a jar full of chocolate literally staring at me 2' away. One of the hardest things for me, though, is cutting back on my coffee creamer. I did initially, but I cannot drink coffee without a load of cream. Therefore, I've decided I will just have 1 cup each day with the right amount of cream, instead of 2 cups and splitting the creamer between the two. This was a reasonable compromise, one cup of creamer with coffee for a smaller ass.
I hope to blog more about my road to trimness. I also hope to exercise more (I wouldn't hold your breath for exercise tips), so stay tuned!
