Sunday came and went without any additional injuries, thankfully.
Monday morning came and did not go so well. Lincoln was playing in my bathroom, which is a typical morning for me. Annoying, but typical. He was sitting in the corner next to me and the next thing I know he had grabbed my flat iron cord and pulled it down on his hand. OUCH! He immediately started crying, I picked him up and ran him downstairs to Jamie and told him we would be making a trip to the ER today. After about 5 minutes, he seemed fine once again. If his hand hadn't been peeling, I might not have taken him to the ER because of his mild manner. But, it was coming off, so off we went.

This is him while at the hospital. You can just barely see the burn on his right hand. :(

This is him after it was bandaged. He handled it rather well; even the nurses were surprised.

This is him last night after we re-bandaged his hand. It has to be done nightly and I hate it. He, again, did really well and was only squirmy from having to be held still.

If you can see from the stages of pictures, his head seems to be getting worse looking, but I think because its healing. He is handling it all so well. I told the nurses when we arrived to the ER I felt he had a high pain tolerance. Apparently, how long a child cries is an indicator of the burn degree. I think they were skeptical at first, but once they saw how he under reacted to the hand cleaning and dressing, they believed me. The ER Doctor said he had a 2nd degree burn, but the nurse felt it might have been worse. I take him to the Children's Hospital burn clinic tomorrow [that just sounds terrible], so we shall see. I only hope it heals quickly because I hate seeing him like this and I hate having to redress it everyday with the chance he'll scream in agony. Tonight was the first bath following the incident and he was fine until he had to plunge his hand in the water. :( He cried and I got him out quickly. I redressed it, on my own, and he was fine once again. He is such a boy. Everyone I've talked to said this is only the beginning. So, if its going to get worse than almost his head almost splitting and a 2nd degree hand burn, I don't know how my heart will survive.
